For All
- Fellow Cast members, parent volunteers, staff and directors should be treated with care and respect at all times
- No food or drink is allowed in the lobby or auditorium, for more information, click here: Food at the Civic Center
- Read and observe all signage posted by the Civic Center and Iowa Dance Theatre
- Many areas are strictly off limits to all except Civic Center employees, please stay in allowed spaces, do NOT wander around the theatre
- Don’t loiter in the theater outside of scheduled rehearsal and performance times
- Abide by guidelines listed on the Security, Parking, Drop off / Pick up pages
Parents and those not performing
- During rehearsals, parents are welcomed in the lower third of the auditorium and may sit quietly in the Civic Center lobbies
- On performance days, parents without tickets must leave the theater. Parent with tickets will need to leave the lobby and return through security at the doors designated for audience members.
- Only Assigned IDT Volunteers are allowed backstage at all times
Backstage Rules for performers
- Abide by the Dressing Room Rules
- Chaperones are there for your safety. Please respect and obey their instructions
- In addition to the rehearsal directors and chaperones, performers must cooperate with the stage manager, Kim Grimaldi, who is in charge backstage and her instructions must be followed for everything to run safely and smoothly
- Our Wardrobe Mistress, Judy Schwartz, is in charge of all of the costumes; follow any instructions she gives you, but if you have an issue with your costume, please report it to your chaperone or rehearsal director.
- Floors backstage are waxed, to avoid tracking wax onto the stage floor, please wear socks over your performance shoes in dressing rooms and hallways.
- Do not interfere with Union crew or anyone employed by the Civic Center
- Do not touch lights, sets, backdrops, or anything that is not designated as your prop
- Cast members may share gifts with each other and their Rehearsal Directors at the theatre, however we request that these gifts not be bulky or expensive.
